Chris Pilling showed up with three phase electric motor driven gear box with sprockets formerly used on a elevator. It has turned out to be a great solution for launching and recovering our tender from the davits. It’s also been a great opportunity to learn about variable frequency drives, relays, contactors, motor breaks, and radio crane controls. And many thanks to Steven and John Michelotti who modified the hoist sprockets, and Brandon Phillips for helping mount it on the transom.

You can fix, repair, build, imagine, create most anything even with basic tools and skills. The internet, a good friend, and determination is all you need.
