Powered Hose Reel Needed
I sent off some specs today for a custom hose reel, but perhaps you have an idea or know of a used one laying about.
The requested specifications follow:
1. Is the hose or cable reel for storage or does with the power / liquid / gas flow through the reel?
NOTE: Requires two connections, one each side. Connections can be hydraulic quick connectors made once the hoses are deployed and disconnected prior to hose retrieval. I would like the option of using hydraulic rotary unions. 1 – 3/4″ and 1 – 1/2″.
2. Will the hose reel be fixed or portable?
Fixed. 4 – 3/4” bolts on 2’ X 2’ pattern on the base. That matches with mounting nuts build into Seeker’s deck.
3. What is the type of hose or cable that the reel is for?
Pair of hydraulic hoses.
4. What is the diameter of the hose or cable?
1 – ¾” R1 and 1 – ½” R2, as well as a ¼” Cat5 cable, bundled together with plastic ties.
5. What is the length of hose or cable that the reel needs to hold?
450 ft.
NOTE: There is a good chance that the hoses will occasional twist on retrieval. I think a reel with a 12″ diameter drum, 28″ diameter flanges, and 30″ between the flanges will meet our needs, and fit the available space on deck. Weight of hoses, wire and hydraulic oil is 650 lb. And there will be considerable shock loading, possibly to 1200 pounds, when deployed over the side but we do not plan on trying this in seas greater than 3 ft.
6. What is the maximum bend radius of the hose or cable? This will tell us how tight we can wrap the hose or cable around the drum.

NOTE: a battery and wireless communication unit will need to be stored inside drum, so an opening in the end of the drums center of 2″ x 3″ needs to be left open for accessing this equipment. We will likely add a bolt on hatch to the drum as well that will be the actually housing space.
7. If there is liquid or gas inside the hose and reel:
Hydraulic oil. Max 1200 psi.
8. If there is electric power running thru the reel what is the type of power?
Cat 5 cable is low voltage serial communication.
9. What type of rewind is needed?
Hydraulic motor. If provided with an ANSI #60 roller chain sprocket on the reel, we can add the necessary hydraulic motor ourselves.
10. Are there any special considerations such as material of construction?
Stainless Steel or Aluminum. The chain sprocket can steel.

12. What is the delivery location for the reels?
