Tabouli, Taboule, Tabouleh
If you visit the shipyard when the tomatoes are in season, you’ll often find us serving you Tabouli. It’s a Lebanese “salad” that is very popular in Tulsa, OK and is served in several of the restaurants and steakhouses. Doug likes it for lunch in flatbread, I like it on crackers, and it’s always good as a salad with burgers, bbq or fried chicken.
There are some mixes available but I’ll admit I haven’t tried them, other than a locally produced mix. The key ingredient is bulgar wheat which is basically parboiled cracked wheat. Bob’s Red Mill makes it but you can sometimes find cracked wheat near oatmeal in the cereal department.
There you have it… more goodies from our kitchen and hopefully something I’ll be able to source worldwide as life without is Tabouli is.. well.. .life without Tabouli.

Engine Room Work and More – Using every welding process we have.
Eric was flying over from Amsterdam and looking forward to learning to weld. I told him there were pretty much done with welding but that I’ll see what we could find. Turn out that we don’t have any long runs anymore but the small stuff requires a little of every welding process we have available. It was a fun few weeks. Thanks to all of the crew! Bart, Davis, Scott, Glenn, Neill, and that guy that stopped in for a tour and stayed too long.
Sand Blaster Restore and Upgrade
We had not used our big sand blaster and compressor in a couple of years, so we cleaned it up and made some repairs and improvements so we can start blasting and painting the hull.
Wash Down Pump Restoration from Hell

Painting the Boat – Part 1 of many
Spring is here, the weather is warming up and we are getting lined out to do some serious painting. The approach is to work in the engine room when the wind and tides are not in our favor and blast and paint when the blasting and painting are good.
