I’d rather be doing this work on the water, but dam it’s handy to have a hardware store just down the road. And it’s always great to have Captain Charlie around.
Start Your Engines and Other Boat Stuff
Getting some little jobs done but with the fuel lines all in place I got to fire up the VMAC and the Tony 10K generator. And those share the exhaust from the main engine. As usual there where a lot of dire predictions about running 3 engine though 1 exhaust pipe, and so far those dire predictions have turned out false like so many others. Another victory for optimism!
SOLD the house! And Moving Out
The house and boatyard are SOLD! And it’s taken weeks but Francis and I have emptied out two attics, a shed, a storage room and two 20 foot shipping containers. What we think we might need is inventoried, boxed and waiting to be stuffed into Seeker. Paul Nosak gave us a big hand moving the shipping containers and the gantry crane off the property. And a day with Paul is never a boring day.
VIP Launch Party
Thank you to everyone for coming out. I had a blast. It was fantastic to meet so many followers from all across the US! I love that we have built something that brings people together in such a positive way. Wish we could have had the boat in the water, and I hope we get to make that up to you in the future. We are making headway on insurance and getting rid of all the things that will not be coming on board the boat. I’m looking forward to moving my shop on-board and learning to sail. So plan on another visit, and bring your sea legs. And if anyone as a photo or video of Charlie in that Whoopee Cushion costume, I’d really like a copy of it. –Doug
Dinghy Transom Rebuild
My larger than expected 15 hp motor on our 12 ft dinghy came close to ripping the transom off and making Chris Pilling wade back to shore. I’m glad it held together as he’d still be bitching about that. So Dave showed up and welded in a much improved over new transom. And without any plywood to rot out in a few years. Yeah, I’m hoping it last a few years. This is not the boat that you want to bang into rocks, as it’s paper thin.
